Katrina, Firefly, and Randomness

Still overwhelmed with the reports coming out of New Orleans. My thoughts and prayers go out to those that are suffering, and grieving. I pray for quick assistance to all those in need, and that those bent on mindless violence will some how be restrained from harming others.


I managed to catch 1/2 an episode of Firefly tonight, thanks to a darling FF icon used by a new friend thesuthernangel, reminding my loser self! I can see that I'm going to *have* to get the DVD set now, cause this show? Makes me laugh out loud. For instance the Captain was trying to explain why he kissed a drug-lipped imposter-bride, that caused him to be knocked out. "Well, she was all naked and articulate." *snort* Pure Joss. ;)

Other than watching Fox News relentlessly, I managed to work on, and post a huge batch of BtVS icons...and fit in some housework too. Not to mention I've changed my LJ layout, updated, AND changed my layout at Captured Memories this week too! Go me. :P Yeah, it's only been almost 2 months. High time. :P

Tomorrow I'm planning on hanging out with angstchic and helping her with the remnants of moving. Just small things that have had to be put aside due to more pressing life stuff. I'm looking forward to the visit, cause when we get together, it is never un-amusing. :P

Oh, my baby dogs had no problems healing up from their surgeries. Stitches were removed a couple of weeks ago, and they hit the ground running after that. It was such a relief to have them back to normal. *snuggles baby dogs*

Yay for Firefly! Of course I'm so darn new to it, I don't even know all the characters names yet. (yes I know I'm lame) :P It sucks royally that it was canceled, cause I think it would have been a success. Wah.

But seriously I thought I was one of the last ones to jump on the band wagon. Yes, buy the dvds. I thought the show would bore me to death but ended up loving it to death. The 14 episodes provide such a great rollercoaster ride the first time watching them. Set aside a couple of days to breeze through the episodes but savor each and every second. I started bitching at FOX six episodes before the end because of how ruthlessly they robbed us from such quality television.

I know, I've only seen 1 and 1/2 eps, and already can tell it was an amazing show. Why do they cancel all the good ones? *kicks TV execs*

I too am really slow on the uptake and must get FIREFLY and watch it all! Who am I kidding -- I still only have Season 1 of BtVS! I can't really get much until I pay off the hospital from where I had Rachael (my two-month-old) and the pediatric clinic.

I made a screencap of my livejournal page, and then took 2 of my previous spuffy graphics. I cropped them down, and manipulated them to fit the laptop's screen. Then I anmimated it. Not hard, but a little time consuming.

Our Mrs Reynolds was the episode that really hooked me too. I'd enjoyed them all up until that one, but that's when it became a 'must watch'.

Serenity is Joss from beginning to end, with the intensity upped a few levels.

"Shindig" was my first episode, and I loved it! I only caught bits of the last part of OMR, but I saw enough to see it was a good ep. I can hardly wait to get my DVDs! :)

I'm excited about Serenity too. I hope that we can continue to enjoy Joss-creations in the future too.
