Wow. I've been absent for a long time, haven't I? Crazy how life can get away from a person. Before you know it, months have passed. How've you been dear flist? I hope 2012 is treating you kindly. :)

2011 had a rough ending for me.

Life and all it encompasses... )

So yeah, that's me. Still trying like crazy to find the silver lining, and don't think I won't spray paint it if I have too! :P

I've been SO FREAKING BUSY! Someone stop this ride and let me ooooffffffff!!!
eyesthatslay: (Happy Birthday Cupcake White No Text)
Thank you for the birthday wishes! I appreciate them so much, especially since I'm so scarce in LJ land these days! Also thank you to [livejournal.com profile] angelswilliam  for the virtual tin (party) hat ;) , and [livejournal.com profile] ran_dezvous  for the thoughtful Tornado Relief gift. So sweet of both of you!!

I had a nice low key birthday, did the usual work day, then Hubby took me out for a nice dinner. Had lovely birthday wishes and gifties from friends and family. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] angstchic , and [livejournal.com profile] psubrat  for the Amazon goodies! :)

Then stayed up way too late texting [livejournal.com profile] danaid_luv, but she's so worth it! *glomps* I just spent a fabulous girl's weekend in Memphis with both she and [livejournal.com profile] angstchic . We had so much freaking fun!! We did the Beale St. Music Festival, shopped/dined all along Beale St. and even worked in a tour of Graceland (Thank you, thank you very much).  And last night we decided that the reality of her being away...in another STATE again is just WRONG. So there. ;)

So things have been good lately, but busy as always. I hope that everyone on my dear flist is doing well too!! <3 <3 <3!!

eyesthatslay: (Christmas Pink Tree Blinking)
Hey peeps! I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas!! Hubby, Baby Dogs, and I had a great time in Atlanta w/SIL, MIL, and FIL! We even got to see snow on Christmas Day!! We were driving back home, but still it was soooooo pretty. *happy sigh*

Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] angstchic , [livejournal.com profile] rikki_oko , [livejournal.com profile] danaid_luv , [livejournal.com profile] psubrat , [livejournal.com profile] amoonchilde , [livejournal.com profile] beanbeans , [livejournal.com profile] ladyforash , [livejournal.com profile] kskitten ,and  [livejournal.com profile] opalescence_ . For the gifts, goodies, photos, and cards. I <3 you all!

Hubby was wonderful enough to get me the big ticket item on my wish list this year. A 32" flat screen TV for the master bedroom. w00t!!! I love it! I had to laugh though, because when he brought in the box (though wrapped) it was more than obvious what it was. We both just cracked up over it being such a *not* surprise. Hee!

Really good news on my Aunt who underwent brain surgery. She's at home now and recovering nicely! We talked with her on the phone the other day, and she sounded really good. She is so relieved that it's over with, and that everything went so well. We're all very happy about her recovery. Once again thank you to everyone for the kind comments and prayers.

Work is busy insane and will be until after New Years. Don't get me wrong. I love the holidays, but I'll be thankful to have our normal (and less hectic) routine back. Traveling for Christmas this year made it extra crazy, so that explains why I'm extra worn out! :P

I'm planning on leaving the tree up until the weekend of New Years, then I'll take it down. I'm going to leave  my snowman/snowflake decorations up through January though. Maybe they will bring some real snow my way, hey, a girl can hope!!

Much love to you, dear f-list. Have a wonderful, and safe New Years!! *smooshy hugs*

I Suck.

Dec. 9th, 2010 10:09 am
eyesthatslay: (Christmast Ornaments Silver Blink)
I suck like a big sucky Hoover vacuum at updating my LJ. I am equally sucky for not making Christmas icons.  Why do I suck so? I don't want to suck, and yet I do. I need a 12 step program. "Hi, I am eyesthatslay...and I suck."

But, y'all still love me right? :)

In my defense, RL has eaten my online life.
  • Heard that a cousin died on my estranged father's side of the family. Don't know details, but he was only 6 years older than me.
  • Hubby and I, with Baby Dogs in tow, took a (long past due) 10 day vacation in late October.
  • Spent 1/2 of vacation in Atlanta, GA with SIL, who is going through a long and nasty divorce, and 1/2 in Asheville, NC.
  • Tackled redoing my counter tops in my kitchen and master bath. Did it all by myself, to surprise Hubby. Killed self in process.
  • Good friend and neighbor lost her darling mom suddenly to a heart attack. So sad.
  • Hubby's Aunt was diagnosed with an aneurysm in her brain. Scary stuff.
  • Same Aunt visited MIL/FIL with her husband and a sister for 2 weeks around Thanksgiving. Was wonderful to see them, as always.
  • Decked the halls, put up the tree, and basically sprinkled glitter on everything else. :P
  • A key computer at work died. Panic ensued. Then had the lovely job of transferring everything to a new computer.
  • My office assistant quit for another job, because she needed something closer to full time.
  • Hubby's 95 year old Grandfather is in the hospital for pneumonia, and coughing up blood.
So as you can see. I've had stuff going on. All this, plus the holidays, makes me a very busy girl. Busy girl is busy. *sigh*

I'm ready for the New Year, with the hope of things improving for everyone. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a loved one, is struggling through difficult times, or is dealing with illness in their family. Those things are painful anytime of year, but the holidays tend amplify it all. I pray comfort for everyone out there who is hurting.

Work is wonky since I lost my help. Plus, I'll have to find someone else and go through the training process again. Training always wears me out. Not looking forward to that.

To support my SIL, who is in the midst of a painful divorce, we are spending Christmas with her. She has no family in Atlanta, so we're bringing family to her.

Today will be a mad rush of Christmas shopping for me. Since we won't be home for Christmas, Hubby and I are spending tomorrow with my Mom and Dad. Love them! My Dad is my wonderful step-dad. I decided that he's actually the Dad I was meant to have and he in turn has decided that I'm his daughter. :)  I also hope to work in some BFF time,  this weekend, with [livejournal.com profile] angstchic  to properly celebrate her birthday. \o/

The New Year will be insanely busy due to work. I get tired just thinking about it. I've decided that I'm going to keep my eyes on the promising light at the end of the tunnel, but I'll also continue to be ready to run like hell if it turns out to be an oncoming train. :P

Love you, dear F-list! *hugs*

eyesthatslay: (Autumn Dog Whoo!)
That was totally my face when we finally had Fall like temps all last week. Though it's still a bit of a roller coaster ride. 38 degrees this morning, 80 degrees now. Crazy!stoopid!weather. Still, I broke out the pumpkins and fall decor with enthusiasm that would make David Bromstad jealous. :P

So now I'm all Autumn-ed up. I even made Fall icons. Which, yes...shocked even me. I changed out my Summery icons to Fall-ish icons. Then I noticed my mood theme. *sigh* My fabulous Lost mood theme. I should change it, yeah? but...it's making me kind of sad that it's all over. I've seen the finale, cried the tears *sniff*, watched the 11 minute epilogue on YouTube...but I STILL can't bring myself to buy the S6 DVD set. It's just so...final. Ya know? *sigh* Oh, and I can't really remember how to change my mood theme either. I mean it has been like, 5 years! Anyone care to remind me how?

Oh, and I watched the new Clash of the Titans. I was...underwhelmed. Actually, I was disappointed. I much prefer the Harry Hamlin version. Claymation-type special effects and all!

Cut for CotT Rantage & Some Spoilage )

So yeah. That's my rant take on the CotT remake.

Oh, and for another riveting review :P.....I FINALLY finished reading Breaking Dawn. I was expecting the worst, cause of all the bashing I've heard/read. To me, it didn't suck.

Cut for Breaking Dawn Spoilers )

So I didn't love it, and I didn't hate it. I'm glad I read it. Thanks again [livejournal.com profile] rikki_oko  for gifting it to me. :)

I had some kind of nasty stomach bug this weekend, and yesterday, but I finally seem to be rid of it. Yay! I am such a big weenie about being sick to my stomach. Blerg!

So that's me for now. I'm sooo glad that I am back into the LJ posting mood (at least for now!). It's about time!!! *hugs f-list*

I just realized that as of Sept. 2, 2010...I've been on LJ for 7 years! SEVEN YEARS. Srsly, people...where does the time go?!

Whazzup?

Sep. 18th, 2010 12:07 pm
eyesthatslay: (Coffee & Laptop)
I watched Terminator Salvation last night. I didn't even realize Sam Worthington was in it. I really liked his character. Still a huge sucker for redemption story lines apparently. (Spike!) I plan on watching Clash of the Titans today. Sort of having my own personal SW marathon, though unintentionally.

I really, really, want to put out my fall decor. Pumpkins, scarecrows, etc...but we're STILL having temps in the upper 90's. HATE. The heat pretty much cancels out my desire to break out the pumpkins. *sigh* It's not only been really hot, it's been really dry too. Annoying beyond belief. Still, I can hold on to the thrilling fact that my sod LIVES!!! Watering it has pretty much taken on the semblance of a second job, but still...I haz grass! *does the dance of grass-having*

I seem to be winning the Cold War (tm). Yay! Woke up this morning without a scratchy throat, but still plan on dosing with Zyrtec and Vitamin C to be safe.

In sadder news, my Uncle in Japan passed away at the end of August, after a 5 year battle with throat cancer. The time that my Mom and I had with him is that much more precious now that he's gone. I'm so very grateful that we were able to go and visit when we did. Rest in peace dear Uncle.

That explains why I've been feeling so drained lately. I'm apparently fighting off a cold, and it's been stalking me for some time. I'm still not quite in it's evil grasp. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep it at bay. *cracks whip and brandishes chair at stoopid stalky cold & takes vitamin C*

eyesthatslay: (w00t! Dog)
For those of you who don't know, I've had major grass growing drama. Complete with sordid details shared shamelessly on my LJ. See for yourself  here, and here. So I figured, why stop now?

OMGYAY I'm getting SOD today!!! GLORIOUS, beautiful, fully-rooted, instant-gratification-carpet-of-green, SOD!!!!! *flails with unadulterated joy*

Put that in your bong pipe and smoke it, Spock!! You pointy-eared b@st@rd!!! :P

Spock - 0
Me - 2

P.S. If this sod doesn't work. I'm going to paint my dirt green. *nods*
eyesthatslay: (Happy Bunny Let's Get Back To Me)
So...I've been trying to get into the twittering groove. Still forget to tweet some days, but it's improving! Speaking of Twitter, I think I wanna do a poll later. Pollz R fun. ;)

I've been busy with yard projects on the domestic goddess front. Hubby has been great with knocking out the "Honey-dos". We built a little handicap ramp off of our deck for the Baby Dogs, as my littlest one is no longer allowed to use stairs. She's also not allowed to jump on and off furniture. Vet's orders, as she's had some inflammation in her spinal discs that have caused pressure to nerves controlling her legs. She had been stumbling, but after cutting out the climbing/jumping - she's much steadier on her feet now, thank goodness. They zip up and down the ramp, which is so cute.

Hubby also re-laid our flagstone path, (I was the official finger-pointing supervisor of the project - go me!) setting them with cement/mortar this time. We'd used sand to set them, last spring, and thanks to record breaking rains, most of that washed away. I like the new pathway much better, plus no worries about it washing out anymore. \o/

Another pretty big thing...I'm going to Japan with my Mom in May. *squeees while running in panicked circles* Yeah. It's a weird mix of looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I think that makes me neurotic. Last time I was in Japan, I was 10 years old. My Mom and I stayed for 3 months that visit. It was awesome, and I had a wonderful time. I did get stared at, even though I'm 1/2 Japanese. I was tall, and had brown not black hair...so I stood out, but Mom (God bless her) told me it was because people thought I was pretty. Hee. Wonder if that one will work on me now? :P

Time for bullet points, and a cut tag.

*flails* )

So that's me. Um, yay?
eyesthatslay: (Puppy Woe)
Actually, poo probably has one up on me. I've been on the verge of coming down with something for the past month, and it finally nailed my butt yesterday. Sore throat, fever, aches, and to top it off, I've been awake since 2 am.

Just finished fiddling with LoudTwitter. Going to try posting my tweets to my LJ. It seems to be set up right, so I'll wait and see if everything posts as it should at the end of the day.

I think I'm going to try watching some TV and seeing if I can doze back off. Wish me luck...
eyesthatslay: (Autumn Pumpkins Stars)

Wow. I've really been a slacker with LJ lately. *blinks*

I still have summer icons uploaded. Me! An icon maker! Shameful! *shakes finger at self*

aaaaand, I haven't even started thinking of Christmas icons. But there MUST be shiny new Christmas icons. Let's hear it from my icon fan club!! *crickets* Helllloooo? :P

Hey, at least I'm posting. w00t! Way to find the silver lining.

So, I recently saw Paranormal Activity. I liked it. I really did. It was creepy, and interesting, and even funny. The suspense was great. Made me jump a few times. Good scary fun. Had a woman behind us that summed up my thoughts at the end, quite nicely, with a well timed "Oh HELL no." Made me giggle. Hee.

I caught some re-runs of Moonlight on Chiller last night. Realized I'm still so very bitter about the cancellation. So. Very. Bitter. *hates in the general direction of CBS*

Wanna see New Moon. Still strongly in Camp Edward. Will not budge from Camp Edward. Ever. "Can't we all just get along??" NO. kthxbye. :P

Oh!!! I just got the new Star Trek from Netfilx. Wheeee!! Yes, I'm the loser that missed it at the theater, but Netflix is helping me not suck. Baby steps, people, baby steps.

Also - seems to be a lot of entertainment based thoughts rolling around in my head - I recently watched S1 of Trueblood, via Netflix, and DAYUM. I was kind of shocked by how nasty it was. I mean, I was embarrassed because it was so nasty. OMG how I wish Jason Stackhouse, and his "dates" would keep their clothes on! I get that he has sex. A lot. But I really got sick of oh-look-Jason's-having-sex-again. See me make use of the fastforward button. After doing my level best to overlook all the gratuitous nudity and sex, I did enjoy the story, and the vampires, and Sookie. Even though every time Bill says "Sooooky" in his over-the-top southern drawl, it makes me think of the Colonel and Belvedere the bulldog in that old Looney Tunes cartoon. "Oh, Belvedere! Come here, Ole Boy!! Aaah, Magnolias" Yes, Bill sounds like the Colonel. Which makes me giggle. Everytime. "Sooooky" *giggles* So I'm looking forward to S2, and hoping that Jason gets hit by a bus, or castrated, or both. ;)

On the domestic goddess front, I'm having curtain angst. I ordered some valances for my guest room, got them in. Put them up. Hated them. Sent them back. Ordered a different set. Got them in. Put them up. Hated them. Now I have to take them back. See my trauma? Now, I will be googling valances obsessively until I find the perfect set. Just another fun thing to stress over. Wheee!

I am looking forward to the holidays, though. I love Thanksgiving. We have family coming in and it's always so much fun when they are here. Looking forward to spending time with family, and doing the whole roasted turkey and trimmings bit. *happy sigh*

Hope everyone is gearing up for a fun holiday too. *hugs all around*

eyesthatslay: (Puppy Pom *Peek*)

Popping in to say a quick hey there to my peeps. So, hey there! ;)

Thank you [profile] endless_reader for the sweet virtual gift and note! It made my day!! *hugs*

I'm having hard drive issues, and will be dealing with repairs and such - but am falling back on my old laptop till I can get my new one fixed. So at least I won't be totally cut off from the internet. Perish the thought! Have been scarce due to FB games eating my brain, but I think that I'm finally in a place where I can wean pace myself. :P

Still love y'all, dear f-list. *hugs all around*

eyesthatslay: (Supernatural Dean in Car Smile)

I got a new car! w00t!! A 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited, in Pearl White. It's much nicer than my Mazda Tribute, and gets better gas mileage too. Plus, we got a really good deal on it, since the dealership gave us a generous trade on my old car. Oh, and the best part? It's got a 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, and that's peace of mind I'm v. glad to have!

Isn't it pretty? *pets pretty new car*

eyesthatslay: (Pic!Spam)

It's been a long time coming, but here at last....I present baby bird pic!spam!

Cheep, Cheep!! )

Seems like an age since I've updated. Things have been so crazy busy, but at least they are pretty much back to a normal crazy busy. Here's a quick run down...

My MIL's broken knee is healing well. She'll need physical therapy for another couple of months, but that's all part of the process. She's gone back to work, but doesn't like to drive herself as it still causes quite a bit of discomfort to control the pedals. FIL's work schedule has calmed down though, so he's able to take her where she needs to go most of the time.

I also still have projects at work, but can now at least see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm planning on spending a day with my Mom later this week, it's long overdue!

I got a new cell phone, and I love it. It's a Samsung Impression. I patiently waited until I was eligible for an upgrade to get a qwerty keyboard phone, and now I finally have it. I really like that this phone is touch screen capable, and also has a slide out keyboard. I don't care for touch screen keyboards, as I prefer to be able to feel the keys. I ordered a white silicone skin for my phone, which turned out to be an epic fail. It was horrid, and fit...or rather didn't fit...my phone like a loose sock. After that disappointment, I ordered this snap-on cover. Isn't it shiny? I have a decided weakness for anything with bling. :)

I went to see Transformers 2 with [info]angstchic. We had lots of fun, but I must say I was surprised by the amount of language the movie had in it. It was also more sexualized. Quite a bit of gratuitous, barely-clothed-females in sexually provocative posing, slow-motion-with-excess-lipgloss, and all-college-girls-want-sex, scenes. Caused my eyebrows to go into orbit more than once. Still, once I got past those parts, it had some very witty dialogue and of course, fabulous special effects. Still, I wouldn't take my kids to see it, not unless they were old enough to drive, and maybe even vote. :P

Cut for girly medical stuff... )

So that's what's been going on in my world. How about you? I hope you're all well, dear flist.

*hugs flist*

eyesthatslay: (Supernatural Dean You Are Insane)

<------ *points to icon* Yes, Dean. Yes I am.

Remember my little office flooding drama back in early May? Well, we only just had new carpet installed last Thursday. My new assistant and I have been working in a makeshift set up for over a month. Needless to say, I was more than a little thrilled things were finally on the way to being restored to normal.

Then, being my life, more crazy stuff happened.

Friday afternoon, my MIL slipped on wet tile at Church and shattered her kneecap. We had the whole ambulance/emergency room experience. She had surgery to wire it back together Monday, and was discharged today. I stayed at home with her most of the day, as my FIL is having to work out of town. She's doing well, so that is a wonderful thing.

Saturday night we came home from work, to discover our A/C was out. Hubby, Baby Dogs, and I had to suffer through 80+ temperatures all night. Luckily, we were able to get it serviced and fixed Sunday afternoon. \o/

Sunday, all the stress everyone's been under came to a head, and I got into shouting match with my FIL at work...and in front of God and everybody. Being part of a family business can be incredibly frustrating at times. We made up, but it was just one more drop in the bucket of suck.

I've already put in over 53 hours at work, since I had to work all weekend to get the offices set back up. Plus, I tackled the cleaning, and reorganizing of the entire building. *iz ded*

Oh, and to top it all off...I have a stupid heat rash.

All this craziness has apparently caused me to be completely discombobulated. How do I know this? Because when I went to brush my teeth yesterday morning, I tried to squirt contact lens solution on my toothbrush. *facepalm*

Maybe this weekend will be better. Please? *begs*

eyesthatslay: (Supernatural Dean Approves)
My SUV is finally in the shop. Hubby called around and found a garage that would do the repair for 1/3 (w00t!) of the dealership repair quote. I'm getting new parts that have a 12 month, or 12,000 mile warranty, and 90 day guarantee on the mechanic's work. *flails with joy* Still a lot of money I didn't want to spend, but 1/3 of the orignal estimate is a v. good thing. Yessiree, it pays to shop around.

Hopefully, I'll have my car back by the end of next week. *misses my car liek whoa*

Yeah.

May. 17th, 2009 10:22 pm
eyesthatslay: (Supernatural Dean Coffee Proud Sponsor)

So, here's the thing. I had a wonderful birthday. Sending out more birthday thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sandy_s and [livejournal.com profile] rikki_oko for lovely, and generous gifts! I love you girls!

There I was basking in the afterglow of birthday happiness, and my car decides to have a massive breakdown. A very expensive, massive, breakdown involving exhaust manifolds, and catalytic converters. *headdesk* Both Hubby and I nearly had a stroke when we received the repair quote from the dealership. Planning on getting a couple of more quotes from other mechanics tomorrow. So since Tues. afternoon, I've pretty much been a big ball of WAH over my car. I've even scolded it for not warning me with at least some small sign. A check engine light before disaster struck would have been nice, ya know? Bad, naughty, car. Did I mention WAH?

Also, my work place suffered some pretty intense water damage a couple of weeks ago. Enough to soak the carpets in two offices. That's been a barrel of fun. NOT. We had to wait a week for an adjuster to come out. We couldn't clean, or move anything. All of our computers, printers, fax machine, etc. are in that awful humid enviroment! There was condensation on everything! By the time the adjuster showed, both offices were majorly gross and funky smelling. I even saw mold growing on one of my wood file cabinets! Adjuster notifed us that the type of damage we had wasn't covered. The water came through a faulty door, blown ajar during a pouring thunderstorm, and apparently it has to be a leak from a damaged roof or wall. Oh joy. Second adjuster was requested by our insurance salesman. We had to wait another week for him. As you can imagine, we still couldn't clean anything. *headdesk, headdesk, headdesk* So now the offices are unbearable. The walls are warped, and according to the flooring guy - the mold is toxic when the odor becomes sickly sweet. Well, we've reached that stage now. The only good? The second adjuster seemed to think the damage would be covered. Still. I, and my new office assistant, have missed work days because we weren't able to do anything. We worked 3 days last week, trying to stay out of the offices as much as possible. That was before the "sweet" smell started. Now that it has, I've decided that we are not going to work in that building until it's cleaned. Tomorrow we'll be working in another building, and we'll just have to make due without access to our computers, files, or anything we'd generally need. Looks like it will be phone duty only for us. *sigh*

So yeah. Looks like the universe decided to balance out the fabulous-ness of my birthday with car and work drama. *glares at universe*

Other than that...

- I missed the Supernatural finale. I can, however, catch it on Hulu now that I've got broadband. woot!

- I was pleasantly surprised to hear Dollhouse was renewed. Now let's hope FOX will stay out of Joss' way in S2.

- The Lost finale was all kinds of awesome. I love my freaky show!

- Managed to post a set of Supernatural icons, and work on some other graphics projects too.

- Enjoyed gorgeous weather today, which was a nice treat.

Soooo. Here's to hoping that I'll be able to get a more reasonable repair rate, and have some progress made on restoring our offices to an inhabitable state. *prays liek woah*
