eyesthatslay: (Autumn Dog Whoo!)
That was totally my face when we finally had Fall like temps all last week. Though it's still a bit of a roller coaster ride. 38 degrees this morning, 80 degrees now. Crazy!stoopid!weather. Still, I broke out the pumpkins and fall decor with enthusiasm that would make David Bromstad jealous. :P

So now I'm all Autumn-ed up. I even made Fall icons. Which, yes...shocked even me. I changed out my Summery icons to Fall-ish icons. Then I noticed my mood theme. *sigh* My fabulous Lost mood theme. I should change it, yeah? but...it's making me kind of sad that it's all over. I've seen the finale, cried the tears *sniff*, watched the 11 minute epilogue on YouTube...but I STILL can't bring myself to buy the S6 DVD set. It's just so...final. Ya know? *sigh* Oh, and I can't really remember how to change my mood theme either. I mean it has been like, 5 years! Anyone care to remind me how?

Oh, and I watched the new Clash of the Titans. I was...underwhelmed. Actually, I was disappointed. I much prefer the Harry Hamlin version. Claymation-type special effects and all!

Cut for CotT Rantage & Some Spoilage )

So yeah. That's my rant take on the CotT remake.

Oh, and for another riveting review :P.....I FINALLY finished reading Breaking Dawn. I was expecting the worst, cause of all the bashing I've heard/read. To me, it didn't suck.

Cut for Breaking Dawn Spoilers )

So I didn't love it, and I didn't hate it. I'm glad I read it. Thanks again [livejournal.com profile] rikki_oko  for gifting it to me. :)

I had some kind of nasty stomach bug this weekend, and yesterday, but I finally seem to be rid of it. Yay! I am such a big weenie about being sick to my stomach. Blerg!

So that's me for now. I'm sooo glad that I am back into the LJ posting mood (at least for now!). It's about time!!! *hugs f-list*
eyesthatslay: (Autumn Pumpkins Stars)

Wow. I've really been a slacker with LJ lately. *blinks*

I still have summer icons uploaded. Me! An icon maker! Shameful! *shakes finger at self*

aaaaand, I haven't even started thinking of Christmas icons. But there MUST be shiny new Christmas icons. Let's hear it from my icon fan club!! *crickets* Helllloooo? :P

Hey, at least I'm posting. w00t! Way to find the silver lining.

So, I recently saw Paranormal Activity. I liked it. I really did. It was creepy, and interesting, and even funny. The suspense was great. Made me jump a few times. Good scary fun. Had a woman behind us that summed up my thoughts at the end, quite nicely, with a well timed "Oh HELL no." Made me giggle. Hee.

I caught some re-runs of Moonlight on Chiller last night. Realized I'm still so very bitter about the cancellation. So. Very. Bitter. *hates in the general direction of CBS*

Wanna see New Moon. Still strongly in Camp Edward. Will not budge from Camp Edward. Ever. "Can't we all just get along??" NO. kthxbye. :P

Oh!!! I just got the new Star Trek from Netfilx. Wheeee!! Yes, I'm the loser that missed it at the theater, but Netflix is helping me not suck. Baby steps, people, baby steps.

Also - seems to be a lot of entertainment based thoughts rolling around in my head - I recently watched S1 of Trueblood, via Netflix, and DAYUM. I was kind of shocked by how nasty it was. I mean, I was embarrassed because it was so nasty. OMG how I wish Jason Stackhouse, and his "dates" would keep their clothes on! I get that he has sex. A lot. But I really got sick of oh-look-Jason's-having-sex-again. See me make use of the fastforward button. After doing my level best to overlook all the gratuitous nudity and sex, I did enjoy the story, and the vampires, and Sookie. Even though every time Bill says "Sooooky" in his over-the-top southern drawl, it makes me think of the Colonel and Belvedere the bulldog in that old Looney Tunes cartoon. "Oh, Belvedere! Come here, Ole Boy!! Aaah, Magnolias" Yes, Bill sounds like the Colonel. Which makes me giggle. Everytime. "Sooooky" *giggles* So I'm looking forward to S2, and hoping that Jason gets hit by a bus, or castrated, or both. ;)

On the domestic goddess front, I'm having curtain angst. I ordered some valances for my guest room, got them in. Put them up. Hated them. Sent them back. Ordered a different set. Got them in. Put them up. Hated them. Now I have to take them back. See my trauma? Now, I will be googling valances obsessively until I find the perfect set. Just another fun thing to stress over. Wheee!

I am looking forward to the holidays, though. I love Thanksgiving. We have family coming in and it's always so much fun when they are here. Looking forward to spending time with family, and doing the whole roasted turkey and trimmings bit. *happy sigh*

Hope everyone is gearing up for a fun holiday too. *hugs all around*

Going to see Paranormal Activity tonight with some friends. I hope it doesn't suck! :P

It's been a long time coming, but here at last....I present baby bird pic!spam!

Cheep, Cheep!! )

Seems like an age since I've updated. Things have been so crazy busy, but at least they are pretty much back to a normal crazy busy. Here's a quick run down...

My MIL's broken knee is healing well. She'll need physical therapy for another couple of months, but that's all part of the process. She's gone back to work, but doesn't like to drive herself as it still causes quite a bit of discomfort to control the pedals. FIL's work schedule has calmed down though, so he's able to take her where she needs to go most of the time.

I also still have projects at work, but can now at least see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm planning on spending a day with my Mom later this week, it's long overdue!

I got a new cell phone, and I love it. It's a Samsung Impression. I patiently waited until I was eligible for an upgrade to get a qwerty keyboard phone, and now I finally have it. I really like that this phone is touch screen capable, and also has a slide out keyboard. I don't care for touch screen keyboards, as I prefer to be able to feel the keys. I ordered a white silicone skin for my phone, which turned out to be an epic fail. It was horrid, and fit...or rather didn't fit...my phone like a loose sock. After that disappointment, I ordered this snap-on cover. Isn't it shiny? I have a decided weakness for anything with bling. :)

I went to see Transformers 2 with [info]angstchic. We had lots of fun, but I must say I was surprised by the amount of language the movie had in it. It was also more sexualized. Quite a bit of gratuitous, barely-clothed-females in sexually provocative posing, slow-motion-with-excess-lipgloss, and all-college-girls-want-sex, scenes. Caused my eyebrows to go into orbit more than once. Still, once I got past those parts, it had some very witty dialogue and of course, fabulous special effects. Still, I wouldn't take my kids to see it, not unless they were old enough to drive, and maybe even vote. :P

Cut for girly medical stuff... )

So that's what's been going on in my world. How about you? I hope you're all well, dear flist.

*hugs flist*

eyesthatslay: (Burn Notice Muffles Frustration)
Yesterday I had to cancel my debit card, and apply for a new one. Why? Because some creep got my info and was using it to buy stuff on the internet. Oh joy. Thank goodness I keep a sharp eye on my accounts (thanks to my online access), and noticed the bogus charges right away. The merchants and my bank were very cooperative, and helpful, which was a relief. My account has been credited, and now my card number will be useless to the internet-shopping crook. Still, it was irritating to have to take time out of my day to go to the bank to fill out paperwork, and then to the police station to file a report. *stabs info stealers*

After I got back to the office, my hubby calls me to tell me there is an injured stray dog in our yard. *headdesk* I go home to investigate. The poor thing was emaciated, and was bleeding from it's nose and mouth. I was able to see a collar, but there were no ID tags. I felt terribly sorry for the dog, but I didn't want to get too close, as he/she was injured and therefore unpredictable. It looked like it had a cut/injury on the side of it's muzzle that apparently went all the way through to the nasal passage, and possibly through the roof of the mouth too. I called our local humane society volunteer, and she managed to talk the city animal control into coming out. I was so glad that they agreed to, since we are located outside of the city limits. Sadly, she said that because of the injury, the humane thing would be to put the dog down. *sniff* I swear I'm like a stray/hurt animal magnet. I told my Hubby that animals must just sense that our yard/house is the best place to go. Still, I wish I didn't have to be in these situations. I know the poor thing isn't suffering and starving anymore, and yet I still feel crappy. *sigh*

As you can see my Monday completely sucked, but I did have a nice weekend beforehand. Hubby and I had a date night for what seems like the first time in forever. We went to one of our favorite italian restaurants for dinner, and then we went to see the new X-Files movie. w00t!! Scully & Mulder together again! *fangirls*

I'm hoping that my week will improve after it's rocky start. If it doesn't I'm finding a cave to hide in. So there.
eyesthatslay: (Firefly Button Dear Diary)
 Dear Self,

Why do you continue to watch the Hormonal Lifetime Movie Network? 98% of the time it annoys you, or makes you dislike mankind in general. This is not a happy place to be. So, in the interest of those that must associate with you, read my lips....change the channel.

Thank you,
Me

/end public service announcement

Thank you to the anon person who sent me the pretty red virtual rose! The attached note makes me think it may have been [profile] opalescence_, so correct me if I'm wrong, ok?

My hubby and I live in a nicely wooded neigborhood, and we have lots of wildlife around. We recently began setting out food for deer, as they tend to snatch bites out of my flower beds unless something more appealing is around. Normally, the oak trees produce mountains of acorns for them, but this fall the acorn crop was minimal. It's been so much fun watching the deer come and feed in our front yard. Last night we had 9! in all.  I tried to take a picture, but it's so dark when they venture out, and the flash doesn't help...it only startles them, which I try to avoid. We've also had some other "visitors" which has been very amusing. The other night, we saw a oppossum waddle in for a bite, and then as we were watching 2 deer eat the other night, a big calico cat sauntered up. It was so comical! The cat looked at the deer, which were only 10 ft away, and the deer looked at the cat, then the deer went back to eating, and the cat began licking one of the rice bran piles. The cat stayed for about 10 minutes, then sauntered off again. Hee.

I also watched The Ilusionist last night. I really enjoyed it!

I'm eating gingerly today, as I had some kind of stomach bug last night. I felt nauseous for a several hours, and then woke up around 3:00 with that "oh no" feeling followed by a run to the porcelain god. After getting sick, I felt better and was able to go back to sleep. I can still tell my tummy is not quite up to par, so I'm taking it easy.

Hubby and I are supposed to spend the day out tomorrow, so I hope I'm feeling back to myself again for it. *crosses fingers*

We are also being teased with the possibility of some wintry weather. I love snow, and am hoping desperately that we get some. *crosses fingers again*

I'm going to try to play catch up on my friends list today, trying to keep up is nearly impossible anymore. You are all so talkative and interesting! I can sure pick some good friends. Just know that even if I can't comment all the time, I love all of you. :)
eyesthatslay: (Woo. Hoo. Dog & Cat)
I seem to be battling sinus problems. I've had the scratchy throat, some coughing, and some sinus-type headaches. Plus, *feels forehead and frowns* I feel a bit feverish. I don't want to get sick! I took a 3 hour nap today, so I must have needed the extra rest. Hopefully that will help my system fight off this stuff.

I'm so glad that many people liked and snagged icons from my hugs/comfort/support set. I love making icon sets that people can use for different expressions of feeling. I like to think I'm the "Hallmark Cards" of the icon making community. :) Which once again reminds me to let [personal profile] angstchic know to just stick with cake. :P

I've been semi busy on the domestic goddess front the past couple of days. I've done mountains of laundry, including all the bedding, and washed and perfumed the baby dogs to boot! I just love their perfume, it's called "Miss Claybone" hee. They have been so cute and snuggly lately, which always lifts the spirits, even when I'm not feeling my best.

I finally sat down today and watched the bonus DVD of my Lost S2 set, and I loved it. Especially the featurette "The World According to Sawyer" Hee. I laughed out loud at all the silly nicknames he gives everyone. The bloopers were also hi-larious. *giggles* I'm so ready for S3 to get started! W00t!

I also recently bought March of the Penguins, and plan on watching it tonight. *feels like the only loser on the planet that hasn't seen it* I just hope that eeep! there isn't a lot of predator/prey footage. That just...wah! I don't like seeing smaller cuter things being eaten by bigger meaner things. It traumatizes me, man! I'm one of those people that ends up watching The National Geographic Channel/Discovery Channel like a deranged sports fanatic enthusiastically cheering for a touchdown. I start yelling at the TV frantically "Run, run RUN!!! Run for your little life!!! GO, antelope/penguin/seal/babyanything, GO!!!" The suspense sometime sends me hopping up out of my seat. Then if the lucky antelope/penguin/seal/babyanything manages to make it's escape, I sometime applaud and cheer in relief. Yeah. So not the most relaxing form of entertainment for me. Ahem. :P

So if you hear lots of yelling in the distance, its just me watching March of the Penguins. *is dork*

eyesthatslay: (Winter Let It Snow Mailbox)
our annual family trip...and I haven't started packing yet. I neeeed to get on that, ya know? :P

I did manage to finish up a respectable number of icons from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and get them posted, so yay on that accomplishment.

I ended up having to upgrade to a paid photobucket account, because my bandwidth was thisclose to being over the monthly limit. I've been uploading all my icons for my LJ posts there since March, and the free account worked fine until I posted my Winter/Christmas set the other day. I apparently had a onslaught of hits, and I got the dreaded bandwith warning email from photobucket. I didn't want to risk exceeding the limit, and disappoint those looking to snag icons. I've got to take care of my icon-loving peeps. ;)

We had a wonderful holiday, with lots of food and fun. I also managed to take down all my autumn decor, and put up all my winter/christmas this weekend. I was a little disappointed that the Snowman flags I ordered in mid October haven't been delivered yet. They've been backordered, and I hope I get them in soon.

I began my Christmas shopping this weekend too, but I avoided the stores like the plague on Friday. Nope. You couldn't drag me to the stores the day after Thanksgiving. I had a day out yesterday with my two aunts & MIL. We had lunch at this wonderful little deli that had the most amazing croissant sandwiches, and broccoli cheese soup. Mmmmm! Then we did some shopping, and went to see Walk The Line. It was a really good movie, and we all enjoyed it. Reese Witherspoon & Joaquin Phoenix were wonderful! I was amazed at how well Joaquin portrayed Johnny Cash's mannerisms, and singing voice. Reese has a lovely singing voice too, and the chemistry between the two was fun to watch.

I plan on taking my laptop with me, but may not be online much. So if I don't talk to any of you for a few days, I hope you have a wonderful week! *hugs f-list*
eyesthatslay: (Firefly Jayne Order Dead Guy For)
This weekend has just blown by. I keep wondering when things will return to a normal pace around here. I spent the day with my Mom Friday, and we had much fun. We both did some shopping, and enjoyed sushi for lunch. Yum.

Yesterday consisted mostly of domestic goddess duties, and watching my Revenge of the Sith DVD.

Just say NO to the dark side )
eyesthatslay: (Firefly Spirit & Heart)
I was pretty much a slug today, and it was nice. I had a mild headache, but some Advil and a nap took are of it. My head probably hurt from all that thinking that Serenity caused. :P

I pulled light domestic goddess duty, but other than that. Slugdom reigned. :)

I spent most of the day lurking at Firefly boards, and checking the box office numbers for Serenity. We won't know for certain how it did this weekend until tomorrow...but it looks to have topped 10 million according to the projections. I'm hoping that next weekend won't have too much of a drop off. Personally, I plan on going again if at all possible.

I'm currently making spaghetti for dinner, and plan on vegging with the hubby and baby dogs for the remainder of the evening. I'm so not in the mood to go back to work tomorrow, but I guess I'll have to suck it up. ;)
