Birthday post info here.

Thank you again to everyone who has offered prayers and support for my MIL. You're such lovely people, and I appreciate all of you.

Since my last post, my MIL went to her family physician, and while there experienced another debilitating migraine attack. She was taken from her Doctor's office to the emergency room by ambulance. I'm sad to say that our local hospital is less than stellar, and they didn't do much to bring her relief from the extreme migraine pain, and couldn't really give us an answer as to why she was having it. Their tentative diagnosis? It might be high blood pressure, or she's drinking too much Diet Coke and/or it's the fish oil supplements she's been taking. *sporks* They sent her home (still with a horrible migraine) with a prescription for additional high blood pressure medication and a migraine prescription. She took both, but got no relief.

5 hours later, still in excruciating pain, she took her 3rd trip to the ER in 4 days. This time my FIL took mine and hubby's advice and took her to another hospital in the larger city that is close to us. They said it was like another world. Within moments of arriving they gave her two pain shots that began to give her relief from the mirgraine, and also gave her a shot to bring down her blood pressure that had a systolic number (top number) of more than 200! Apparently anything over 140 is considered dangerous, and the other ER sent her home with just a prescription! Within 30 minutes they diagnosed  the cause of her migraines as high blood pressure. Within two hours, her systolic number had fallen to 110, and she was able to go home, pain free. They gave her a prescription for a stronger blood pressure medication, and not surprisingly they didn't have it available here. At least the pharmacy did order it for her, and she was able to get it filled today. Sometimes I think our local medical community is in the dark ages.

It's been scary, incredibly frustrating - and I've been majorly pissed more than once at the ineptitude of the local ER, but at least she is feeling better now. She's still having to take it easy, as any kind of mild exertion causes her blood pressure to start going up. She's got another appointment with her family physician this afternoon, to get a follow up, and to inform her Doctor of the other ER visit and newly prescibed meds. Both MIL and FIL have decided that there will be no more trips to our local ER. Apparently, it's worth the extra 25 minutes to go to the larger - and more advanced - ER in the next city.

Oh, and to make things that much more difficult, MIL/FIL's septic system backed up. We've been doing their laundry and letting them take showers over at our house. I feel so bad for my poor MIL. It's bad enough being sick, but not being able to do normal stuff in your own home? It sucks. Hopefully, for her sake, the plumbers will be able to get things back in working order soon.

Once again, thanks for the prayers and kind thoughts - we're kinda needing them liek whoa.

Where in the frilly heck did the last couple of days go? *blinks*

I don't know what my problem is, but I'm worn out today. I can't get up the energy to swat a gnat, and not just any gnat, the puniest of the puny gnats are safe in my non-swatty presence. I'm not actually "sick", though I'm still dealing with a smidgen of the lingering cough, and I've been getting enough sleep, but I came home from work, took a 3 hour nap, and still feel exhausted. *eyebrow* What is up with that? At least I have a new Lost to look forward too, and LOOK!! I have new awards for a couple of winning icons. :) *pets the pretties*

Also, my heart goes out to those on my flist who are stressed, sick, or just having struggles with life. One of the hardest things for me about getting to know and love people on the internet is not being able to physically "be" there when things get bad. When I see people of my flist hurting, I want to be there to defend them/help them/comfort them. So if you're reading this and need hugs, and you need prayer - step right up, because this is for you.

First of off, my dear friend, you are a blessing. You bring delight and richness to those around you. You contribute in your own unique way, that no one else can. You are special, and wonderful.
If you are having a difficult time, or facing the worst thing you've ever faced...I want to hug you, and pray for you to find peace, & comfort admist the heartache or illness, worry, pain, and fear. I pray that somehow you will find your way, regardless of the circumstances, and that when you emerge from the other side of whatever situation you are traveling through - you will have found strength, wisdom, and a better way of things. Love to you, and many, many hugs.
