I'm still sick. Woo hoo. I'm just brimming with enthusiasm aren't I? Yeah. I've been coughing so much, and I swear I sound like a seal begging for a fish. The OTC cough meds just weren't cutting it. I've barely slept the last couple of nights, due to uncontrollable coughing fits. I called my doctor first thing this morning to get some prescription cough syrup. What a relief. I took my first dose a couple of hours ago, and like magic my cough is gone. I'm hoping that being able to get some good sleep will help me to finally kick this cold to the curb.
The one good thing is that I haven't run a fever this round, at all. I just worry about getting congestion in my lungs, since I had pneumonia a few years ago. That coupled with my history of severe bronchitis as a child, and battling asthsma for several years keeps me on my toes, even with a common cold. I apparently have the respiratory system of a gnat. See me not care if I have to buy $30 presciption cough syrup. :P
Starting to feel wonderfully drowsy. I think I may take a nap. *hugs f-list*

Date: 2005-02-01 08:27 pm (UTC)I share the same weakness with you, concerning the pulmonary problems. It's plagued me since i was about 8, when i first got a really abd case of croup and even now, i get adult croup. You're a seal? well, I'm a dog, as everyone has always referred to cough as the bark. And inevitably, whatever illness i ahve, it always manages to settle into my chest. Frustrating, ain't it? At least at this point, i've come to the point that i refuse the steroids they push so they can help with the inflammation. Blah...
Hope you feel better, my sweet.

Date: 2005-02-01 08:38 pm (UTC)We do have the same weakness. I've dealt with this since I was 3, when I was hospitalized with severe bronchitis. I remember sleeping in an oxygen tent. Like you, every little cold, flu, etc. Tries to go straight to my chest. Yes, it is very frustrating! I hate coughing like I do in public, because it is loud and obnoxious! Tussionex is the syrup that my doctor prescribes me when I get like this. It is the only thing that completely supresses my kind of cough.

Date: 2005-02-01 08:42 pm (UTC)And god, yes, i hate doing it in public. So embarrassing. I actually had a man come up to me and tell me that that was what his brother sounded like right before he died from lung cancer. Obviously thinking that it was a smoker's cough. I nearly drop-kicked him. First off, how fucked up is it to say something like that? Secondly...no, i'm stll stuck on that being the most fucked up thing that has ever been said to me.

Gah. That is awful! People just don't think about what they say, sometimes do they? Luckily, I've never had anyone say anything that stupid to me, but I have had people look at me like "God, is a lung gonna come up or what?". ;)
