Gone crazy. Back later.
Jun. 17th, 2009 09:58 pm<------ *points to icon* Yes, Dean. Yes I am.
Remember my little office flooding drama back in early May? Well, we only just had new carpet installed last Thursday. My new assistant and I have been working in a makeshift set up for over a month. Needless to say, I was more than a little thrilled things were finally on the way to being restored to normal.
Then, being my life, more crazy stuff happened.
Friday afternoon, my MIL slipped on wet tile at Church and shattered her kneecap. We had the whole ambulance/emergency room experience. She had surgery to wire it back together Monday, and was discharged today. I stayed at home with her most of the day, as my FIL is having to work out of town. She's doing well, so that is a wonderful thing.
Saturday night we came home from work, to discover our A/C was out. Hubby, Baby Dogs, and I had to suffer through 80+ temperatures all night. Luckily, we were able to get it serviced and fixed Sunday afternoon. \o/
Sunday, all the stress everyone's been under came to a head, and I got into shouting match with my FIL at work...and in front of God and everybody. Being part of a family business can be incredibly frustrating at times. We made up, but it was just one more drop in the bucket of suck.
I've already put in over 53 hours at work, since I had to work all weekend to get the offices set back up. Plus, I tackled the cleaning, and reorganizing of the entire building. *iz ded*
Oh, and to top it all off...I have a stupid heat rash.
All this craziness has apparently caused me to be completely discombobulated. How do I know this? Because when I went to brush my teeth yesterday morning, I tried to squirt contact lens solution on my toothbrush. *facepalm*
Maybe this weekend will be better. Please? *begs*

Date: 2009-06-18 04:33 am (UTC)I hope your MIL feels better soon. I think it's wonderful that you're so strong for your family, even though I know it must wear you down at times. As cheesy as it sounds, every time you post, I find something that inspires me.

Date: 2009-06-18 06:26 am (UTC)HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No, you have to work weekends, nights, and even holidays sometimes, because the work has to be done. Everyone is the boss over you, and the money is only as much as the business brings in. If someone needs to work cruddy hours or go without a paycheck, it isn't the hired help. And it can get tricky working day to day with family, because you don't want everyone to be glowering at one another over the Thanksgiving turkey.
Shattered kneecap sounds insanely painful.
One better weekend ordered!

Date: 2009-06-19 02:58 am (UTC)She's doing pretty well considering. She has a massive brace that keeps her leg straight, and gives her much needed support when she does need to get around. She tires quickly though, and will need some time to bounce back.
Thank you! I'm waiting on my good weekend!

Date: 2009-06-19 01:39 pm (UTC)Let's see. My MIL does the payroll, and pays the bills but doesn't work at the office, she works from home. Plus, she's such a sweetheart. She tries to be a buffer between us and the stubborn FIL. We also have a cousin that works with us, so I work with my FIL, MIL, Hubby, and a cousin....so you still have me beat!

Date: 2009-06-18 08:02 pm (UTC)i'm glad your MIL is doing better!!
So I am right there with you about things being so crazy!! I've been soooo busy and I feel like I'm just losing it. How do I know this??
This isn't a gross story, but I was going to the bathroom and I grabbed the toilet paper and instead of using it like normal people would, I went to throw it away (the garbage is like 4 feet away too) and grabbed a hairbrush mid-throw to use that instead. Thank god my brain kicked it and I didn't use the hairbrush because that would've been painful and I might be considered infertile, but how nuts is that?!
I feel your pain.
This weekend just has to be better!!

It must be better or I'll run away screaming.
