going to go see RotK tonite! Squee! Hubby and I are going to go out to eat, then go see it. I'm so excited...I know I'm going to love it. Squee, I say, squee!

I also watched my Lorna Doone DVD, and I really enjoyed it. I love period films, and even more when they are as well made as this. I have several period films, most of them based on books by Jane Austen. One of those I desperately wish they would remake is Northanger Abbey. I have a 80's version on DVD, but the music score is pretty cheesy, and the heroine has standard 80's styled hair and makeup. I expect period films to reflect the styles and appearances of the characters to be true to the time. I believe it brings more authenticity and depth to the film. I think that is one of the reasons that I love A&E's version of Pride & Predjudice so much. They took such detail with those things, along with the costumes, and furnishing...it takes me to another time when I view it. That is the best experience that a movie can give in my opinion. I feel the same way about the amazing quality of the LotR movies. The attention to detail is what creates the perfect setting for the actors, and actresses to shine in their roles, making the whole experience complete for the viewer.
