Wow. Christmas is right around the corner!

...aaaaand I've not done ANY Christmas shopping yet! *runs in panicked circles*

This. Is. Not. Good!

Seems like fate has conspired against me the past few weeks. Being sick with the flu didn't help, thank goodness I'm practially over all of it now, other than having to still take a 1/2 a dose of cough meds before bedtime. Then I've had minor eyeball drama.

I had, a couple of weeks ago, what I thought was a case of pink-eye. (ended up I was wrong) I picked up some Similisan drops, stopped wearing my contacts, and treated it for a couple of days, and it cleared up. I tossed the contacts, and the eyemake up I'd used when I noticed the problem, and started with all fresh stuff. I didn't wear contacts since I'd been sick with the flu for about a week and a half, but the other day I ended up wearing a new set for a few hours. I'd been to the salon, and then planned to finally do some Christmas shopping. I'd only been shopping for about an hour, when I noticed that my right eye felt irritated. I looked for a mirror in the store, and OMG! My eye was completely bloodshot! It looked terrible! I decided to take my contact out immediately, as I didn't want it to get any worse, and hoped that I'd be able to deal with having only one eye in focus. Didn't happen. It was driving me crazy and giving me a headache, so I cut my shopping short and headed straight home to remove my remaining contact, and get my glasses. Then I went to my eye doctor to find out what was up. Turns out it wasn't pink eye. He said it was apparently an irritation that had been progressing, and that it had reached a point that putting in contacts caused a complete flare up reaction. He prescribed anitbiotic/streroid drops, and I can't wear contacts until this coming Thursday, but hopefully after that - I'll be able to wear contacts without that terrible reaction.

So, this week my mission is to complete ALL my Christmas shopping. Must. Not. FAIL!

On an entertainment note. I've been following Fringe sporadically. I've been distracty lately, and I find myself having trouble connecting the dots. I watch and enjoy the show,  and love the character interactions, but I am lamely unable to focus enough to tie the underlying conspiracy thing together. I see scenes that I know are supposed to give me an "A-HA!" moment, but I don't care. I don't have the energy or concentration at this point. I've reaaaally got to get it together before Lost begins in Jan.!!! I must be at the top of my paranoid "OMG did youSEEEEthat" game by then.

I also caught the second episode of Leverage, (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] angstchic 's DVR) and I must say...the writing is "spit-take" witty. I likey. I think I'll be tuning in again. IF I can focus enough to remember when it airs. :P

In fact. I've been so distracted that [livejournal.com profile] angstchic  was beginning to have some real concerns. First of all, she dangled her homemade Chex Mix as bait, and I didn't even bite. That in itself is staggering, but what dialed it up a notch was this excerpt from an email  I'd sent her - "I've got a salon appointment Thursday. I'm really thinking of getting more hair cut off. I want simple... Bald is simple, right?" Within 5 minutes of sending that email, my cell phone began ringing with "Everybody Wants You" aka. The Burn Notice theme song. Alarmed BFF on the other end. Hee.

No worries, I did finally subcumb to the overwhelming allure of her fabulous homemade Chex Mix (nom, nom, nom), and didn't get a bald-do at the Salon. I settled for an angled bob. No intervention necessary. This time at least. ;)

So yeah. That's my life. Jealous? :P

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Yay! It's nice to see another Leverage fan. So far, I'm really enjoying it. And I'm still liking Fringe, but you do indeed have to be paying attention.

Best wishes with getting all your Christmas shopping done.

Thank you. :)

I hope that Leverage continues to entertain me, and you are so correct...Fringe requires paying attention - hopefully I will be able to do better in the coming episodes.

Thank you! I need all the help I can get! :D

I've actually had that happen to me - the whole contact/eye thing. Ugh! And, trying to see with only one contact in? So not possible.

I also caught the second episode of Leverage, and I must say...the writing is "spit-take" witty. I likey. I think I'll be tuning in again. IF I can focus enough to remember when it airs.

I <3333 Leverage. Tuesdays at 10pm, although, since it's TNT, it'll be reaired during the week. ^_~ My CK love knows no bounds, but the cast plays so well with each other.

A bald ETS? OMG! Say it isn't so! Although, reading that you got an angled bob makes me chuckle. Guess we're back to looking like twins - yup! that's what I'm currently sporting. Hee!

So you know what I'm going through with the eye thing. You are so right about not being able to see with only one contact!

The cast does play so well off of one another. That's another reason it's so much fun to watch. Do you still call CK's character Lindsey though? *giggles* I keep doing that!

Hee! We are hair twins, imagine that! Yay for angled bobs on brunettes. :D

Oh yeah. I think I ended up having to go without my contacts for like three weeks, and the first time I put them in again, I was soooo nervous.

Just your friendly neighborhood Spidey reminder - it's Tuesday. Leverage, tonight at 10. *grin*

We are, we are! Oh, hey, you going to D*C this year again? Or, is it too early to tell?

From: [identity profile] eyesthatslay.livejournal.com
Ack! I only had to wait 5 days, I've worn them the past 2 days, and everything has been OK so far.

Thank you so much for reminding me!!! Because of you, I didn't miss it! *hugs*

I don't think I'm going to be able to do D*C this year. I'm planning on maybe going to visit [livejournal.com profile] rikki_oko instead, and I only have so much blow money to play with. ;)

I actually don't have pink eye - it's an acute irritation. He said it's not infected, but more of an "abrasion" kind of thing.

Thank you! I hope for the same!

I know! The first day the drops burned like crazy!! but as my eye has improved, they are soothing.

Oh no! I totally understand missing TV shows. I've been like that for the past 2 months! Scatterbrained!

Mmmmm. Sounds like yummy cupcakage alright. I'd love to sample one, but with as crazy as this week will be for me trying to get all my holiday shopping & wrapping done, I'll have to catch the next batch.

You are still evol, btw. :P

Ooh, I was in the same boat as you only two days ago, and waiting until now to shop might be a good thing, believe it or not. Almost everybody is already done their shopping, so the stores, while busy, aren't I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL busy. \0/ So you just might do better than if you'd shopped one or two weeks ago. I do hope your poor eye is feeling better soon. xoxoxoxo

Congratulations on getting your shopping done in adverse conditions! Your insane troll logic does make sense, O'wise-but-bedraggled-shopper. ;) I plan on doing as much of my shopping during the weekdays, and not on the weekends. Less busy, the better.

Thank you for the pep talk, sweetie. *smooches*

Ouch, poor eyes. I've had actual pink-eye this year, and it was gross.

I think Christmas has crept up on us all this year. I went to put up my tree this morning, and I couldn't find it! Normally I finish my gift buying in November, but I've still got one to go. Just not in the mood at all, at the moment.

You poor thing. Pink eye is worse than what I have to deal with, because mine only looks horrible - it's not contagious or itchy.

I think you're right. I was excited about decorating, but it seems like time has slipped by so quickly!

It wasn't much fun - it was caused by the haemophillus influenzae virus that Griffin caught at daycare, and while he could take antibiotics to get rid of it, I am allergic to penicillin. *le sigh*

Hubby used to wear contacts and he had some major irritation issues. Have you thought about getting lasered? It's expensive but OMG the best $5k we ever spent. He had it done at 4pm Thursday and could have driven himself to his 8.30am appointment the next morning. Thoroughly recommend it. He has chronic dry eye also, from not making enough tears, and he takes Omega 3 which has made such a difference. Just in case that info is helpful to you!

From: [identity profile] eyesthatslay.livejournal.com
Oh no! So you just had to ride it out? That must have really sucked!

I have looked into getting Lasik done, but it is expensive, and something else always seems to be a priority. Maybe I'll win the lottery or something! :P

Thanks for the Omega 3 tip! My eye doctor put me on Acuvue Advance lenses with Hydraclear to help with my eye dryness. They are much easier on my eyes than the regular Acuvues I used to wear, but any tips are appreciated!

It wasn't fun, but it did illustrate to me that the body can heal itself without antibiotics, just not quickly. :o/

Omega 3 is awesome, not only for dry eyes but for out of control kiddies and mental fuzziness. I am seriously thinking of taking it for my baby brain!

I like Fringe, but I'd like to like it better. The characters are great, but the show could use better writing.

Not jealous, but I've got a broken microwave, broken shower, leaking water heater...

From: [identity profile] eyesthatslay.livejournal.com
I hope that Fringe sticks around, because I think it's fun. :) Hopefully, the writing will improve.

Ack! You're having a run of it, aren't you? I had a broken microwave, but we've replaced it. Our old one was 13 yrs old, so it was about it's time. I hope you get your stuff fixed/replaced soon!

Thanks, sweetie! I did manage to get it all done. Whew!

Eye irritations do suck. I'm sorry that you've had a recent bout of it too. I've finally worn contacts the last couple of days, and everything has gone fine. Looks like my eye is doing great now. :)

Glad you're feeling better. Eye issues rank up there with being one of the worst things to deal with! And yea for Leverage! I'm enjoying it myself. In regards to Fringe? I could take it or leave it at this point I think.

Thank you, sweetie. You're right, eye problems aren't fun at all. At least I seem to be out of the woods with it now. Contacts aren't being a problem anymore.

Leverage is fun! I'm glad that I managed to catch it this past Tues. thanks to [livejournal.com profile] seductivembrace's timely reminder!

I think I can still enjoy Fringe, but I know I need to be able to pay attention to catch all the nuances of it.
