Thanks and hugs to everyone who wished me well on my break from being online. I relaxed, spent time with the hubby, and actually did some reading...not relaxed reading, however, as I was absorbed in Stephen King's Four Past Midnight. Morbid but interesting as heck!

I also managed to finally watch Cold Mountain, and I had some observations.
I was completely horrified by the ozark family orgy. A world of ewwww. There is just something wrong with scene that has more breasts than teeth, or hygiene. Why do film makers feel the need to put this kind of stuff in movies? I could have safely lived the rest of my life without seeing those scenes. Bleck. Plus, I was terribly annoyed by the ending. Poor Jude Law (Inman) survives: being blown up, being shot, being subjected to the ozark family orgy, being captured, being chained to dead people, being in a confrontation with Union forces, being nearly shot by his girlfriend, and finally blessedly delivered into the arms of his girlfriend....only to die the very next day in a shoot out with the local evil loser gang. Wheee! I was annoyed. I was very annoyed. Stupid movie.

Mkay, what else? I'm working on icons again....slowly but surely getting enough together to post. I've also managed to complete a couple of sets of Round 4 LLGA banners. I was lucky enough to get a nearly 3 hour long phone call from amoonchilde who's just such a sweetie, and some good phone calls with angstchic as well. Horaay for a couple of gals that help keep a body sane. ;) Oh, and also sending big hugs and get well prayers to rikki_oko...take it easy sweetie! *smooch* Also, hugs and prayers to angstchic, her hubby and family on their recent loss. *hug*

I thought that The Library Policeman was the creepiest of the four, and I was glad to see that The Langoliers movie had closely followed the book....unlike Secret Window. :)

Be afraid, be very afraid. :P Seriously though, those scenes don't last very long, and the rest of the movie is quite watchable.

All done with the funeral and stuff. It was okay and the gathering afterwards was actually kind of nice. Oh! Guess who's got a cake in the oven at the moment. Whatever shall I do with it, as it hangs out -- all warm and lonely?

a.) The hero dies for no good reason after surviving and struggling

and

b.) JUDE LAW dies for no good reason! That boy is preeetty.

Plus there's the hoedown ick factor. :shudder:

WHY do they have to ruin movies like that???? *Stomps foot* I'm glad you told me. I hate Hollywood. And many boob, few teeth scenes too. Perhaps we should call them by their Native American Name, Meneboobfewteeth :P

Yeah, the whole "lets all get grossly naked" scene was completely unecessary to the plot. Now the love scene between Jude & Nicole...very tastefully done. So I don't know why they went that weird route with the naked Ozark family.

Glad to see you puttering about LJ again, oh ye of many stitches. Don't over do it though! Gotta keep my favorite author healthy! *snuggles*
