Wow. I have done nothing productive today at all. Go me! I do have reasons though.

1. I woke up with a nagging headache.

2. Needed to finish watching Big Fish.

So once I finished popping some advil, eating lunch, and watching the movie I figured I deserved a nap. Now at least the headache is gone, even though I'm still a bit groggy. Oh, and I watched Girl With A Pearl Earring last night too.

I loved GwaPE, which proves that I'm like a moth to flame for UST. Plus, Colin Firth! with long hair, and all tormented. Perfect. Scarlett J. is a lovely girl, and their scenes together were nothing less than riveting. Everyone did a wonderful job in their roles, and the emotion was all very believable. The film was beautiful visually, with the authentic settings, and costumes. I have to admit that I really, really, wanted to see them kiss though. Wah. Though the gift of the earrings did soothe me a little. I'm a stickler for happy endings with these kinds of things.

Big Fish was pretty dissappointing to me. I had a terrible time trying to reconcile Ewan M. as Albert F. when older. Seems like I just couldn't "buy" into it enough to feel any kind of connection with the "older" Edward Bloom, and that may just be me. I liked the fantastical elements of the stories, but the whole Father/Son thing just seemed to leave me cold. I didn't feel moved when Edward died, though I did like seeing versions of all his characters at the funeral services. I'm glad I didn't buy this DVD and only rented it, because I don't think I'll ever care to see it again.

Thanks chicka. :) Nothing like a stupid headache to suck with wind out of the sails.

I got alot of things accomplished this weekend at least, even planting flowers, and treating the yard yesterday. So I don't have any guilt about vegging out today.

You have a good evening too, and I'll try to call you later this week! :)

You know, i actually liked Big Fish. Can't really explain why, i think it was just the way the whole movie assaulted my imagination with the stories and colors. And the sheer incredulity of it. And funny you should say that about Ewan McGregor, because the very reason he was hired was *because* he scarily resembled Albert Finney at that age. Heh, what the years will do... And i actually had tears when the movie ended and the son was telling the story of Edward's death. Again, no idea why it got to me so, but it did. Maybe it was the mood :)

When I rented it I fully expected to be all about it, but for some reason it just didn't grab me. It may have been a mistake to watch such a serious movie (GwaPE) before watching Big Fish. Maybe you're right about the mood.

Finney's Bloom didn't charm me like Ewan's. (though I could just be partial to Ewan *wink*)I've seen a movie with a young Albert Finney in them, and I would have never thought to compare him with Ewan. That is interesting that he was hired because of resemblance. Of couse...Finney was playing the young Ebenezzer Scrooge - young and grumpy. Heh.

I did think that the actress that played the young Jessica Lange looked a lot like she did when she was young, and that was pretty cool.

I wish I would have been moved by the son's story...but for some weird reason it didn't touch me, and that is unusual...since I can cry over commercials. I'm glad you liked it though. :)

I've been wanting to see Girl With A Pearl Earring for a wile but hadn't really head anything about it from regular people (i.e., people not paid to give their thoughts on the matter.)

Now I'm all excited. I'll have to add it to my netflix queue

I love historical dramas, and this was just so beautifully filmed. So much was protrayed in expression, and body language...rather than verbally. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when you see it.

I am so jealous that you got to be a slug today. I hate that you had yuckiness today! Nasty headaches, anyway. And sadly, the fact that they made the Barlow uber-vamp in SL more human, totally kills it. They have changed and 'updated' it enough so that it is just 'eh' now. Sigh.

The slug thing was good, but the headache wasn't fun. It is trying to come back for some reason, but luckily Advil is working well.

That sucks that they changed the look of Barlow. He is supposed to be all blue-bald-heady with the uber long fingers. That is what made him so creepy.

The hubby and I are planning on watching Along Came Polly tonight, then hitting the sack. Sounds like a plan to me. :)

Hee! The whole reason I didn't go see GWAPE (gwape? *snort*) was because I heard there was no kiss. I am a sucker for a kiss. You can UST me into the depths of hell, but you'd best deliver a kiss at the end. :P
