I hope you all had wonderful birthdays!
As you can see I made it back from Altanta in one piece. We had a wonderful time, and I did get to tour the Margaret Mitchell house. The GWTW museum was pretty neat too, though not as large as I expected. I wasn't able to take any pictures inside MM's apartment, or the museum though. :(
The museum had some interesting pieces from the movie set. The front door of Tara was there, including the windows and columns on the side of it. As was the huge oil painting of Scarlett O'Hara Butler. You could see the dent marks from the whiskey tumblers that Clark Gable flung at the painting while filming for the scene at the Peachtree house. There were a few costume items there too; the corset Vivian Leigh wore as Scarlett while holding onto the bed post...the green bonnet from Paris that Rhett gave to Scarlett...and the top hat and trousers Rhett Butler wore while walking Bonnie with Scarlett down Peachtree Street.
The house was interesting too, and beautifully restored. Though only a small apartment in it, was actually where Margaret Mitchell lived. I saw the leaded glass window that she is reported to have gazed out of, while writing GWTW. They also had furnished the apartment with period furniture according to descriptions she had written in letters to friends. I did discover that Margaret Mitchell was related to Doc Holliday of the OK Corral fame. Seems that they were cousins, which is interesting. His sister was a Nun named Melanie...and that is where the inspiration for GWTW's Melanie Hamilton came from.
Here is a picture of the outside of the front of the house...

and one of the back of the house. Her apartment (#1) is located on the bottom left...

We had dinner one night at Papasita's, which is a wonderful mexican restaurant...then had dinner at The Atlanta Fish Market the next night. There was an impressive metal fish sculpture outside the restaurant, which appeared to be nearly 3 stories tall! I ordered some sushi, and it was delicious.
All in all, it was a fun trip. Unfortunately, we arrived back home late Sunday night, and had to go right back to work Monday. Wah.
Work this week was stressfully busy. Not the kind of busy I like at all. As if that wasn't bad enough, my help gave notice Friday. Double Wah. *sigh* I'm praying that we can find someone soon, that will be easy to train. The timing is just so bad.
On a much happier note, I want to post a couple of pics of the gorgeous flowers that
sweet_ali sent me on my birthday.

Aren't they pretty! :)
I went to see Revenge of the Sith last night, and I'm going to post my thoughts about it tomorrow...in a word...I thought it was pretty amazing.
I've spent the day watching Star Wars DVDs, and piddling around with my layout. It's been a quiet, and relaxing day...just what I needed! It's good to be back to posting. Hopefully, I can be more consistent about it now. *hugs f-list*
