eyesthatslay: (BtVS Spike eyesthatslay)
[personal profile] eyesthatslay
I've been tagged by [profile] julielu, so here goes. :)

Explain your livejournal name and its meaning. When you're done, tag as many people as there are letters in your name.

Not too exciting, but here goes! I began using eyesthatslay when I first came into the BtVS fandom. I wanted "slay" somewhere in my name to allude to The Slayer, and I wanted something to do with "eyes", as I think they are the windows the soul, and show so much of a person. So I came up with "eyesthatslay". Which is good and all that, but you'd be surprised how many people misspell it as "eyesthatlay" which sounds so lame. (i.e. old indian word for eyes-that-got-tired-and-had-to-rest) :P

I hereby tag everyone on my flist that hasn't done this meme. You can even post here, and tell your name stories...I'd love to hear them! :)

Mine's not that original....Clairol hair coloring that I was using at the time I started LiveJournal Feria73 was that red color I used, but after the first application....they discontinued the color! Then, I had to go to the next lighter ;-)

I've always been in love with the ocean. Mermaids tears is another name for sea glass.

It starts out as useless, discarded glass. After being battered in the waves for many years, it comes to rest on the sand, all worn, yet beautiful, sparkling as a jewel. I use this as an analogy of my own life, feeling useless and broken before Christ, and as a sparkling jewel after accepting Him as my Savior. :)

I figured it was something to do with BtVS, but wanted to know for sure, since I love your LJ name! :D I've seen the error "eyesthatlay" and I must say I crack up whenever I see it, while at the same time, stamping my foot for you and wishing they had gotten it right! Thanks!

Mine is pretty simple... it is a nick name from junior high. No one still calls me Carrot anymore, but it is a happy sort of a memory for me.

I love how you got your username...it's so creative! :o)

Hmm...mine's really boring, but I do have a story. When I started writing fanfiction, I wanted to use my first name, but there was already a Sandy who was writing at the time. So, I thought...okay, Sandra. But there was Sandra S., so I decided that I would use a combo...Sandy S. Hence, the lj username, too. :o)

Mine's boring.

It's just my first and middle names - Heather Rae.

It's been my online nick for as long as I can remember. :)

The story behind your lj name was cool; I like it! My lj name is the first 2 letters of my first name, the first 2 letters of my middle name, and the first 2 letters of my last name! DE-YV-RA=DEYVRA, ta-da!!

I never saw it like that - to me it always had Spike-ish connotations. I mean the way he looks at Buffy mid-S6 - his are eyes that lay! *g*

Anyway I've always loved your usename - it's very pretty and clever.

I've always thought it a lovely name and I'm pleased to discover that my musings on it's origin were actually pretty darn close.

Mine is boring too. The first time I was asked to create a user name, I was stumped as to what to pick. Desperately trying to think of one, I looked on my bookshelves for inspiration and the first book I saw was The Hobbit. So hobbit it was. It could have been Lolita, Faro's Daughter or Dragonflight. But no, hobbit.

Then, when I wanted an LJ account, hobbit was taken. So I added UK on the end (as in hobbit from the UK) and there you go.

Told you - boring!

I love your lj name story :). Mines pretty boring. I was feeling bitter on the day I changed from my old lj to this, and I guess I'm a pretty cynical person anyway :p, and I love nature and moss. I have a joke with a friend about putting I <3 moss on a t-shirt, which I must do one day...

My lj name came from two different things. There is a song by one of my favorite bands Korn called "Bottled Up Inside" and also that I'm the type of person that keeps my feelings "allbottledup" until I let them come pouring out all at once. I know I shouldn't do that but it just seems to happen that way. :/

Anyway, I love your lj name and where it derives from. :)

My name is boring, it was my first-ever AIM screenname. I remember when we made it up (this was when AOL first came out and my sister's friend Sheila was over, helping us figure it out) because I wanted something to do with being a bookworm, except a lot of the names were taken and so they'd offer up suggestions with lots and lots of numbers tacked on the end that didn't mean anything. So finally, I tacked a 9 onto the end of it (I was born on Nov. 9) and it accepted it.

It became my LJ user name because when a friend invited me to LJ, she said she couldn't think me of as anything except "Bkworm9" in the Internet world. So that's what I became.

I'm horrible at coming up with names, so bluesdrive just came from the Pillow's song "Blues Drive Monster."

I'd only heard the song in Japanese, but looking up the lyrics just now led to a pretty interesting translation of the lyrics. http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/furikuri/bdmonster.htm

PoetLady is what a guy I used to date (before my marriage obviously) called me. He always asked to hear my poetry.

It's one of the few nicknames I was ever given and I liked it. We keep in touch through email every few months, he is married and now has triplets.

When I went to create a user name, I didn't want to use my name (because it was too boring) and I couldn't think of anything witty to use. So I went with the simple "just a" and tried out a few different endings before settling on "dancer". It's my little tribute to the thirteen years I spent dancing before I turned all my athletic attention to running. :)

As per Zarrah's lj:

I took my onscreen name because of the angst from BtVS. I both loved and hated the relationship angst that Joss seemed to get hung on. I realized that I was entertained probably more than I should've been :P

At that time, I identified with the B/A relationship, remembering that time when falling in love and those feelings are "life and death" stuff. There is *nothing* more important that the relationship. Hee. Of course in the real world, you grow up, look back and see just how "dire" it really was and uh, mock yourself. But I remember that time and hence the name. :P

I've enjoyed reading the reasons for everyone's LJ name. I've used "electricalumbilical" for most of my online fun, because, believe it or not, it is one name that has never been taken. However, it was too long for LJ, so I had to improvise. "bojojoti" is the first two letters of my husband, myself, son, and daughter's names.
